NPD Group Tracks Sales in China

Consumer and retail information provider The NPD Group, Inc. has launched a new service tracking sales of prestige beauty products in China. The fresh offering is the first and only point-of-sale tracking service for the prestige beauty industry in that country, covering the fragrance, make-up and skincare businesses. NPD’s beauty tracking in China complements the firm’s expanding portfolio of beauty tracking businesses in the U.S., France and Italy. Subscribers to the new service will receive quarterly reports with monthly breakouts of sales volume and market share at the category, brand and product level available from January 2007. Item-level information is available for select products. Data are being collected from a leader panel of 32 stores in six cities across China, with plans to expand to more than 50 stores in 10 cities next year.
